ColleMassari

ColleMassari is a world-renowned group of four estates producing excellent wine and extra virgin olive oil. Siblings Maria Iris Bertarelli and Claudio Tipa always shared a passion for nature and great wines, and in 1998 they founded ColleMassari, fulfilling their dream of creating a “Domaine” in Tuscany. The estates are located in Cinigiano in the foothills of Mount Amiata, a territory famous for its particularly favorable microclimate which is ideal for growing olives and Sangiovese grapes. The land is situated 300 metres above sea level and orientated towards the coast, which lends to consistent ventilation and strong thermal winds.

Castello ColleMassari is one of the finest expressions of Tuscan olive oil. It is known for its precious combination of olive cultivars, which includes the very rare and peculiar Olivastra Seggianese olive that is only found in Alta Maremma. Among their groves of Olivastra Seggianese, ColleMassari boasts three of the ten oldest olive trees in Tuscany, each at least 930 years of age.

The organically-grown olives that ColleMassari selects are milled exclusively in an innovative new mill incontinuous cycle, guaranteeing the highest quality and purity of their oil. Olives are pressed within three to six hours after being harvested. The resulting oil is intensely spicy and fruity, with clear hints of artichoke. It is recommended to be used on soups, salads, bruschetta, pinzimonio, roasted meats, and crudités.
