Agrumato® Lemon
Silver Medal, Flavored Category
Los Angeles International Competition 2019
The original. In the region of Abruzzo, bordering the Adriatic Sea, olive farmers have traditionally created citrus oils for family and friends in celebration of a bountiful harvest. Agrumato® Lemon is a unique condiment, the first of its kind, introduced by Manicaretti in the early 1990s.
Why is it special? The crisp freshness of Agrumato® Lemon is achieved by the whole-fruit crushing process, which cannot be duplicated by the more common infusion method of other citrus-flavored oils. Whole lemons are crushed together with olives in the traditional cold-extraction method to capture the essential oils of the zest in the resulting extra virgin olive oil.
AGRUMATO® is the original. It is produced by using only olives and citrus strictly free from harmful substances and carefully selected for ripeness and variety. The two ingredients are crushed simultaneously in a state-of-the-art frantoio (olive mill). When the resulting paste has obtained the right density, the AGRUMATO® is extracted. The process takes much longer than is usual for producing extra virgin olive oil and the low yield makes this product rare and precious.
