Il Miele della Vita – Michele Gaido

After the loss of his brother, Michele Gaido decided to leave his job as banker and dedicate himself completely to his passion: beekeping. Since 1989,  he has been producing honey exclusively from bees roaming in the grassy fields of the Po River Natural Reserve—a protected wildlife refuge in the Alpine foothills of Piedmont.

His deep knowledge of the territory and connections with small producers from the area evolved into a new profession. Il Miele della Vita (The Honey of Life) celebrates the circular connection between humans, the soil, plants, animals and the products of  local beehives.

A passionate advocate for organic practices that support biodiversity, Gaido believes that sustainable treatment of the environment is the key component to achieving personal health. Good food—grown and crafted without artificial manipulations—has healing properties with benefits for both body and mind.

Gaido labels his honeys with both the type of nectar collected and the specific areas in which the bees roam. In addition to honeys, he produces fine apple and mead vinegar.
